About Us
U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc started in June 2003 as a specialized distributor of Asian cut broccoli crowns to large urban centers on the U.S. East Coast, under its shared “Ho Choy” label. Our niche was the special short cut of its crowns and the ability to affordably ship product from California and Mexico to the East Coast. U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc now ships its Asian cut broccoli crowns under its exclusive “Fu Choy” label. “Fu Choy” is Chinese for “abundant/plentiful harvest”.
The company’s next step was consolidating a multitude of other items for its customers to compliment its broccoli. This led to the growing of these complimentary items. As its business grew, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc looked to another popular local California Central Coast crop for diversity and to meet its customer’s demand, strawberries. In 2005, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc began shipping strawberries with its mixed loads. With the increase in strawberry demand in the last few years, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc began growing berries in 2006 and is currently marketing the Mariani Packing Company’s, of Vacaville, California, “Mariani” label.
We are building our business around our customer’s needs. Initially, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc began procuring broccoli for its customers. It then expanded into growing its own broccoli to ensure the cut and quality its customers demand. Now, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc is growing broccoli and strawberries in larger volumes and various other items in smaller volumes. These other items consist of romaine lettuce, green & red leaf lettuce, cilantro, zucchini, fava beans, English peas, green onions, heirloom tomatoes, Sungold tomatoes, and strawberries. As a company, we are driven to provide our customers with a convenient, one-stop shopping experience.
U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc furthers its service by providing all variations of delivery options through its in-house transportation company, Global Transportation Logistics Inc (GTL), and its packaging division, GP Inc. GTL enables U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc the ability to arrange both local and long distance shipping for its customers at affordable rates year-round. We can ship full load volume and partial shipments to anywhere in the continental U.S. and Canada. Through GP Inc, U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc can tailor its packaging to the needs of its customers. Bulk packs, value-added packs, and special labeling are all services provided by U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc.
Future Goals
U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc is moving forward by expanding on the principles that have proven successful in the past, providing its customers with high quality product with excellent service. Continuing its successful specialized Asian cut broccoli program, the company is increasing its broccoli acreage and looking to establish itself with a larger presence in the U.S. retail market and in the export market. The plan for the “Mariani” strawberry program, started in 2006, is to take advantage of the Mariani Packing Company’s retail presence and broad product offering to increase distribution in retail outlets throughout the U.S. U.S. Fruit & Veg Inc will also continue to strengthen its strategy of vertical integration, through GTL and GP Inc, to increase its service offerings to its customers.
